School Accomodation and Location
Bushvalley Primary School is a controlled school within the North Eastern Education and Library Board.
It is situated on its own grounds just outside the village of Stranocum on the Ballinlea Road. Bushvalley opened in September 1996 on the site of Stranocum PS and was a result of an amalgamation of Ballycreagh Primary and Stranocum Primary. The building is designed and equipped to high standards in order to provide the very best learning and working environment for our children.
The school has a wide catchment area with children attending the school from the neighbouring areas of Stranocum, Mosside, Armoy, Dervock, Ballycastle and Ballymoney. Many parents bring their children to school by car but there is an Ulsterbus Service and also an NEELB bus service. The school can admit 28 pupils each year into Primary 1.
The school building consists of 5 classrooms, a large resource area, two multi purpose classrooms, which are utilised for teaching pupils with special needs, instrumental tuition and has a library for the children. The school also has a spacious physical education hall. In addition we have a mobile classroom. We also have our own kitchen and facilities for disabled children including a wash room area, which was part of the school extension in 2012. The school has a good playground area, a large football field and an outdoor gardening area, to enhance the outdoor learning for all children.
All the staff at Bushvalley Primary are committed to working as part of a team and are conscientious, hardworking and dedicated to the school and its pupils.
