Bushvalley Eco-Schools

Bushvalley is an Eco-School

Eco-Schools is an international programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).  Eco-Schools aims to empower children to be the change in our sustainable world needs by engaging them in fun, action-orientated learning.

Bushvalley Eco-Committee

Bushvalley Eco-Committee is made up of staff and children who are passionate about making our school more sustainable and helping us become more aware of green issues.  The children are the driving force behind the committee.  They meet on a regular basis to discuss new ideas and plan activities aimed at increasing environmental awareness.

The Eco-Council is tasked to:

  • Ensure that the whole school is aware of the Eco-Schools Programme.
  • Take the lead in carrying out the Environmental Review.
  • Ensure that everyone in the school community is represented in the decision-making process.
  • Provide a link between pupils, teachers, Governors and the whole school community.
  • Take the lead in delivering the Eco-School Action Plan.

The Eco-Committee have already introduced a number of initiatives ranging from rewarding healthy breaks and encouraging children to recycle their rubbish, to whole school events such as, 'Wear Green Bee Green Day' where we held lessons outdoors and enjoyed the benefits of outdoor learning.  The Eco-Council have also recently introduced 'Fruity Friday'.
