Special Educational Needs

At Bushvalley we recognise the learning needs of all the children and we are an inclusive school.

Personal Learning Plans

Class work is appropriately differentiated to meet the ability of each pupil and where appropriate pupil's may have a Personal Learning Plan (PLP) devised with realistic, achievable targets.

Bushvalley have been proactive in the implementation of the new PLP process (replacing the old IEP's) and children on our SEN Register all have a PLP in place.

External Agencies

We actively seek external agency support when required and pupils are well supported through these agencies e.g. LTSS, SENIS, RISE. We recognise the importance of parent involvement in this process and therefore, parents are always consulted.

Bushvalley works closely with RISE (NI), ASD Services and the Educational Psychology team to ensure we meet the needs of all our pupils as best we can.

Gifted & Talented

We recognise the additional needs of pupils who are gifted and talented in certain areas of the curriculum. We do our best to ensure that adequate challenge is provided for every pupil to enable them to maximise their potential both academically and in other areas such as sport and music.

Bushvalley works closely with RISE (NI), ASD Services and the Educational Psychology team to ensure we meet the needs of all our pupils as best we can.

School Interventions

At Bushvalley the pupils are continually assessed by the class teacher. Through this assessment any difficulties a pupil is experiencing will be identified.

Miss K McCook is our school learning support teacher and she provides intervention support once a week. Children receive this support in one-to-one or small group settings.
